Review: Flexible tripods

Wanting to add something a little “fun” to my photography arsenal, I found an advertisement for a “Joby” tripod in a magazine.  I thought that I could surely get some use out of a small tripod like that, namely due to the ability to wrap the legs around fencing, chairs, and the like.  Strolling into a local Best Buy, I walked out with a competitor’s brand, Sunpak FlecPod Pro and $36.00 less in my wallet. Thanks to a wonderful new career path, I was fortunate enough to have my company purchase a macro lens which I am able to use with my new D80.  They bought a Sigma 105mm 1:2.8 DG Macro lens and 58mm UV Hoya filter.  Taking it for a test run was interesting, getting used to both the new lens as well as the new camera body. Pick up some prints, too.

A little over a year ago I upgraded my point-and-shoot Sony DSC-S70 3.3 megapixel camera to a Nikon D70s DSLR. At the time, I was overwhelmed with my purchase and finally said now here is a camera that I will have for a while. Little did I know without doing much research into the camera model itself, I later found myself not regretting the purchase, but wishing I had looked a little deeper into my options. The camera took wonderful photos and compared to what I was used to shooting with, the upgrade was comparable to trading in a moped for a Caddy. Read more »
