Framing your work: Tips on the best way to get it done
Posted in Photography by dubThis past weekend I went and picked up two pieces that I had framed for the 2007 juried photography contest at Arts Clayton. In the past, I have primarily used Hobby Lobby for framing my exhibited work. Since I have gone through some pains to find a decent location to have my work framed, I figured I would pass along the limited knowledge I have so that hopefully those of you who are interested in the same can avoid some of the pitfalls that I have run into. Frames
Posted in Photography by dubI am interested to know where you all go to get your work framed. At first, I went to Michaels, but quickly found that was like having my wallet raped. I had been going to The Hobby Lobby for the longest time and had been dealing with some of the same people each time, which made the process easier. To save a little money, I would purchase a pre-built frame and have the matting custom cut to fit my work. Every so often they would run 50% on frames which is when I would go in. That was cheaper than having Michael’s build a custom frame, even with Michael’s offering 50% off. No matter where I have gone, Michael’s has always been overpriced.
Today, I am hoping to pick up two of my photos which were accepted into the 2007 juried photography show at Arts Clayton. I used a local artist who runs a framing shop from her home. She had recently built another small building on her property and moved some of her studio and all of her framing to the building. She has wonderful prices.  Once I get the frames back I will work up a review so that any of the local creative types around Henry County will have another solid source for framing.

Posted in Reviews by dubFor those who are looking for quality stock photography and do not have a budget, Stock Xchng is for you. While I have enjoyed the site and it’s services quite a bit, and have come to rely heavily on the site for much of my day to day work, there is one thing in particular that troubles me about some of the site’s users.
