Raster & Creative Stem

It would seem that the powers running The Raster Group have recollected themselves and are now back on track, continuing head strong toward artistic excellence as they have in the past.  It also seems as if a new project is on the horizon…

Issue 047 from The Raster Group is a wonderful collection.  I rarely get bored with the chapters they release and have found the work challenges me to do more.  My favorite image from this latest collection is “We Are Patient People” by Scott Everingham.  It was great to see such control over the medium he chose and such excellent execution.  Normally I am not fond of centered compositions, but the intentional deformity and contortion of the body helps make any issue with centered compositions go away.  Also of note is Sebastian Holmer’s “The Thing on the House”.  His color palette helps set the tone for the image which is the icing on the cake for a perfectly executed manipulation.

I also see a notice regarding Creative Stem.  Having been a member for a month or two I can easily say that this is an artistic community as an artistic community should be.  Free from all of the things that bring Deviant Art down, Creative Stem is a wonderful break from the “community” sites I have seen come and go over the years.  Their exhibitions are a nice touch.  There are familiar names and work as seen on Raster, but this is far from just a duplicate site.  This is an entirely new beast and I for one and thankful to have been a part of it from the early stages.
