Music: Pocket Full Of Sunshine

Yea, I know what you are thinking. Uh, Dub, what the hell is up with Natasha Bedingfield? Well, believe it or not, I like to listen to all types of music and even country is growing on me. Not much though. It is more like a very slow fungus that moves at an extremely slow rate. Regardless, I have listened to Natasha’s new album and surprisingly, I do not hate it.
The album title track, Pocket Full of Sunshine, is catchy and fitting for just about every pop radio station or The Hills spinoff soundtrack. There are elements of her reaching out to the popular and trendy “music” talents such as Sean Kington in “Love Like This”, but still, I find the track catchy and easy to listen to.
But really, I didn’t expect too much more. The album was what I thought it would be. It is not something that is going to inspire the masses, however, I would safely say she avoided the sophomore slump with this follow-up to her previous successful release.
“Unwritten” contained a few pop-friendly tracks that can still be heard in movies, TV, and on various radio stations. This album contains more of the same, yet, it crosses over a bit into a bit more hip-hop, but not quite enough to garner play on urban stations. it is best labeled as a “feel good” album, with some upbeat tempo music and some more melow and relaxing tracks offering a decent mix and variation enough not to be totally bored. Well, not bored enough to beat your head into concrete anyway.
I think she will enjoy some play with the album and I will continue to listen to it when I need some friendly background music, or when I am cruising down to beach with my girls….wait….you know what I mean.
