I have two pet peeves when it comes to phone ettiquete. The first is the voice mail rambler you described. The second is someone who calls me, interrupting whatever I may be doing at the moment, and then proceeds to carry on a separate conversation with someone on their end of the line. Variation: same setup, but instead of conversing with a warm body on their end, the caller says, "hey, my call waiting is going off...can you hold?" My god, man! If it was important enough for you to interrupt me, then it's important enough to freakin' tell me what you wanna tell me! Thanks for sharing... Well said.
