2008 was quite good for me in terms of my professional work, freelance work, and general hobbyist activities. I received a national level award and two state level awards at work. Personally, I received a national level award, four local awards, and have been included in a variety of press and publications. I have been blessed and look forward to seeing what 2009 holds. Most recently, my work was included in Hallowed Ground Magazine (Winter 2008, Vol. 9, No. 4), a publication created by Civil War Preservation & Trust. Something of which I am very proud of.
This issue included winners from their 2008 national photography contest. The contest judging panel was comprised of people from the History Channel, Center for Civil War Photography, and the Civil War Preservation Trust. I was awarded first place in the “People on Battlefields” category for this photo. I am always pleased to have won anything, but for me, this was especially nice given the size of the playing field. A national level contest with some impressive names on the judging panel.
As a professional designer, this magazine is beautiful and very well put together. A very polished design, quality art and photography, coupled with nice glossy paper makes for a powerful product. I have enjoyed flipping through the issues I have received and been more than impressed with it. Not only does it deliver quality content, but it does so with quite an impressive design wrapper.
I am honored to have been included in this issue and the plaque that I received is proudly hanging in my office.
