October 8th was a date in which I would reach a personal milestone.  The annual juried photography show at Arts Clayton gallery is one that I have regularly participated in for nearly 5 years now.  Each year it gets better.  Each year it gets tougher.  To be awarded Best of Show for the event left me speechless. 2008 was quite good for me in terms of my professional work, freelance work, and general hobbyist activities.  I received a national level award and two state level awards at work.  Personally, I received a national level award, four local awards, and have been included in a variety of press and publications.  I have been blessed and look forward to seeing what 2009 holds.  Most recently, my work was included in Hallowed Ground Magazine (Winter 2008, Vol. 9, No. 4), a publication created by Civil War Preservation & Trust.  Something of which I am very proud of. Yesterday I stopped by my PO box and saw that I had a package.  I was pleasantly surprised to find a copy of Photoshop Creative, Issue 7.  It seems that at least once a month I am contacted regarding my Photoshop brushes with inquiries on cover mounting them on a CD included in the magazines.  I am always pleased that someone would want to include them and it is also a treat to get the magazine back and flip through it.

This version of the magazine is distributed from the Netherlands.  So yes, I have no clue what it says and I have no way to translate the entire magazine.  But I have had my brushes published in Photoshop Creative several times and always found their magazine to be of top quality.  I enjoy the layout of the issue quite a bit.  Visit PhotoshopCreative.nl for more information.

I received word last week that one of my City Hall East photos was selected as the winner for the Creative Loafing Flickr contest. Rarely do I win anything.  And by rarely I of course mean…never.  You can tell that I never win anything because I thought the mail was spam at first.

So this was a nice treat on a Friday afternoon.  I won a pair of tickets to see REM at Lakewood.

In other news, I have also been contacted about my brushes being released in a 3D software application as well as the possibility of creating special brushes to be sold on another website.  So stay tuned for those.
