Nikon Lens Coffee Mug

Posted in Art News, General Banter, Happenings by dub | Tags: , , , , ,

If you are online as much as I am, my guess is that you have seen these coffee mugs floating around.  These are Nikon AF-S 24-70mm Lens Thermos coffee cups.  Normally I would be hesitant about purchasing one but a couple of weeks ago I gave in and pulled the trigger.  This little sucker showed up yesterday and was really one of the coolest things to arrive in my mailbox as of late. New Flickr Group, 5 New Textures

Posted in Art News, Downloads, General Banter, Happenings, Resources by dub | Tags: , , , ,

One thing I have always enjoyed was seeing what people do with the resources that I put out there for them to use.  Be it textures, actions, frames, brushes, etc., it is inspiring to see how they get used.  To give everyone a more central place to share their creations, I created a group on Flickr: Dubtastic’s Textures & Frames. If have used any of my resources, and have not already done so, go drop them into the group pool.  I would love to see what you have come up with.  Also, to celebrate the group, I am releasing 5 new hi-res grunge textures for free. Download them after the jump. Read more »

During the month of July, Arts Clayton Gallery will be running an exhibit called “Untitled, Unthemed, Uncatalogued” which just happens to be my show!  On June 26th, with a truckload of work, I helped hang the show.  What photographer would hang a show and not get some photos of the process, right?  I thought a little time lapse might be in order.  Check it out! Toy Camera Class with Rob Holland

Posted in General Banter, Happenings, Reviews by dub

Yesterday I attended a “Toy Camera Class”, instructed by Rob Holland at The Camera Doctor.  The last photography class I had was back during my first year in college.  Even then, it was not a formal class on photography but merely a section of our art class devoted to the darkroom as it dealt with one of our projects.  Not really sure what I was getting into, I ventured over to check it out. The Quest: Solo Show & Exhibit

Posted in General Banter, Happenings, Photography by dub

A goal of mine for 2008 is to enter a festival/show/exhibit and have a booth all to my own. I have been involved in festivals over the past year or so where I have shared space with other artists. This is primarily due to cost, but also, that odd feeling that my work could not stand on its own. I am going to put myself out there and try my hand at this, so the plans are in the works. I have been studying booth layouts and working on a new name for my photography.

Dubtastic is a name that I do not personally believe I can market locally. It is tough to explain the meaning very quickly and has also been branded toward a different audience. So I will be working on a new name, site, and marketing package, while still maintaining and pushing this blog.

Has anyone had their work in a solo show/festival type setup that can offer some helpful tips?
