Thankfully, you don’t always need an exotic location to get the type of shot you want. Sometimes a driveway is really all that you need. Read more »
Post-Processing Series #5 – Headshot Correction
Posted in How To, Post-Processing, Projects, Resources, Tutorials by dub | Tags: photoshop, post, postprocessing, textures, tutorial
This tutorial covers something that at first, seemed quite simple to me. When I was given the original photo to work with, I figured it was just a matter of correcting a minor blemish and then moving on. But I actually got a little frustrated here because I could not fix it right off the bat. In fact, I had closed Photoshop and planned to come up with some excuse about not being able to fix it. Rather than admit defeat, my pride and ego took over, combined with stubbornness, and the result was a corrected photo. Read more »

Georgia has some great photographers. Despite being competitors, we all can learn a great deal from each other in one aspect or another. This is the third in a series of interviews with Atlanta area photographers.
Evan Leavitt was another photographer that I found while sifting through Flickr. I was immediately captivated. Truly talented at capturing and preserving what is around him, he is able to take what many pass by on a routine basis and turn it into something interesting and worthy of paying attention to. A skillful eye and on-point processing have produced a body of work that I am envious of. After following his work for some time now, it just seemed perfect to throw a few questions his way. I frequently am asked what inspires me and where I look when I am stuck in a creative rut. Which got me thinking today about starting up a more regular feature here for those artists that inspire me. I have spent countless hours looking at the work of these artists and used it as fuel to keep me going when the ideas just have not been coming as quickly as I would have liked them to. Read more »

As part of this post-processing series, readers are encouraged to send in their files for me to work with and write something up on after processing it. This was one of the first images sent to me and I really had a tough time with it. After looking at it, I really did not want to do anything at all with it. Read more »

Georgia has some great photographers. Despite being competitors, we all can learn a great deal from each other in one aspect or another. This is the third in a series of interviews with Atlanta area photographers.
As with my first two interviews, the photographer I selected to interview was one that I barely know. Well, how about not really know at all? I have yet to shake hands with the quite talented Thom Milkovic. I found his work through the Atlanta Photography Guild’s Flickr group. After looking through his photo stream and website, I found an instant bookmark. He mixes a unique eye with precise and flawless post-processing ability. Read more »

As I have found with a lot of the images I post that contain any type of explanation, many ask for detailed step by step instructions. So with this post-processing series I will be doing my best to include the play by play on how I achieved the final effect. This image, used with permission, was taken of a local Special Response Team (SRT) and I processed it to give it a more dramatic effect. This tutorial is a bit lengthy so hang in there.
