October 8th was a date in which I would reach a personal milestone.  The annual juried photography show at Arts Clayton gallery is one that I have regularly participated in for nearly 5 years now.  Each year it gets better.  Each year it gets tougher.  To be awarded Best of Show for the event left me speechless. As some of you know, my two year term as president of the Visual Artists Collective of Henry County, Inc. has drawn to a close this year.  In order to devote my time elsewhere, I have opted not to run again as an officer in the organization and have turned it over to another group of very qualified and talented people.  Without being the leader of the group, I felt more at ease about entering one of the competitions and was quite glad that I did when I learned the results. I attended the opening reception for the 5th Annual Arts Clayton Juried Photography Competition on October 2nd.  This is one of my favorite local photography competitions as it is usually well attended and just an all-around class act.  This year was no different.  I walked in the door with no real expectation of taking a prize home, so hearing my name called twice was quite a shock.
